Battery is draining drastically within 6 months. I need replacement for this product. I have spent 13 k to read books and its not worth at all. Please be careful before buying it.

  3. The power button on my Kindle device was not functioning. I informed Amazon customer care, they said that my product would be replaced. In replacement, I got a refurbished device! I cannot accept a refurbished device when I have paid the full price for it. Amazon did not even inform me that they would give me a refurbished device. This is plain cheating. If you have given me a faulty product to begin with, you cannot replace it with a refurbished one. What is the fault of the customer in all this? Why should they get refurbished devices when they have paid the full amount for a new one?

+++++PROS+++++1.Sleek and solidly built. It looks very nice (but seems like it would be easily damaged if dropped).2.Perfectly even screen illumination. Much better than my Paperwhite.3.Larger screen, less page turns, larger pictures and graphics.4.Faster page turns than any other Kindle I have seen. Waterproof (nice, but not a huge selling point for me). Fast screen rotation when changing hands. Audible. I haven’t tried this yet, but definitely a good feature, even if you can’t listen and read at the same time.+++++CONS+++++1.It’s expensive.2.It’s heavy. I’m surprised at this. They should have stuck with plastic to keep the weight down. It’s wide. Not suitable to carry in your pocket. I can cram my Paperwhite into my back pocket but not the Oasis.3.It’s slippery. This is my biggest complaint. The metal is smooth and hard to grip. It is not easy or comfortable to hold for a long time. Reading in bed is even harder if you need to hold it up vertically because it is very difficult to find a good grip that also allows access to the page buttons. I was constantly hitting them by accident.4.The auto brightness doesn’t seem to work at all for me, I have never seen it adjust even going from a dark to light room. 5.Battery life has not been great as compared to other kindles. So while there is a lot to like, I am debating returning it due to the difficulty in holding it for long periods of time. At this premium price, it should be more ergonomic. I am tempted to buy the previous Oasis model, which is much lighter and smaller, even though I like the larger screen. Ultimately I think most people will be just fine with a Paperwhite. The weight is similar and it is much easier to hold. I will use it for a few more days and see how it goes and adjust my review accordingly if my opinion changes one way or another.

  8. I currently own 2 Kindles: 7th Gen Paperwhite and 2nd Gen Oasis (yes, I like to pamper myself while reading). Both fell short for various reasons. The 7th Gen Paperwhite’s screen is not flush and is prone to picking up dust or lint between the bezel and the screen. Its battery life is not as long-lasting as its predecessor (the 6th Gen PW probably has the most outstanding battery life of all Kindles), and I also made the mistake of using it in tandem with the luxurious Oasis. The 2nd Gen Oasis came with many wonderful technological breakthroughs – a gorgeous 7-inch display, the battery stacked to one side which made it easier to hold with one hand, waterproof capability, and the extra storage – but it disappointed me at one key aspect: the ability to hold it for a long period of time. You see, the 2nd Gen Oasis was the first model to sport a metallic finish on the back. The reasoning behind this might have been to lend it a premium finish, but it is also had the unintended consequence of being very slippery, especially if your palms tend to sweat a lot. Add to this the fact that the edges were sharp and liable to dig into your skin. I have been using the Oasis regularly since launch day and the device still doesn’t feel like ‘mine’. I keep adjusting my hold and grip while reading after every few minutes – this is not something you expect to do after nearly a year of heavy use.Hence, despite the fact that I already use 2 Kindles, the 10th Gen Paperwhite instantly caught my eye. Thankfully, purchasing it has turned out to be an addition of utility rather than overkill. With the new model, Amazon has realized the pinnacle of its vision for Kindle design and technology.– The flush screen, just like the one on Oasis 2, is aesthetically pleasing to read.– The new version is the lightest Paperwhite ever, which makes holding it for long periods even less of a chore. Gone are the days of switching hands or grips at regular intervals.– The rounded edges don’t dig into my hand and let me focus completely on my reading.– I am not one for using my Kindles near pools or while enjoying a bath, so waterproof capability comes in useful only if I ever happen to spill some sort of liquid on it.Overall, if you are looking to upgrade to the 10th Gen Paperwhite for the features, then it might not present a whole lot of exciting new boxes to consider. But, from a design standpoint, the latest version truly excels at stripping away the noise even further, and transporting you into your own private bookish world.Update (23/11/18): So I contacted Amazon Support regarding the update problem. The device was failing to update (via WiFi and USB) to the v5.10.1.2, which happens to be the latest version. The response from Amazon Support: “I’d like to inform you that this is a known issue and a master ticket has already has been raised and the issue has been escalated and we are waiting for the update.”They also assured that the problem was just a software problem, NOT a hardware problem. So I’m going to just sit tight and wait for the software patch to arrive. No big deal.Update (30/11/18): Update to v5.10.1.3 successful. No more pending issues with the device.

Mind blowing purchase. This is my second kindle. I already own basic kindle but thats difficult to read at night. But this kindle paperwhite 10th gen has inbuilt light which makes my night reading experience fantastic. I love the design and its sleek which is easy to hold for a long time.I like the resolution , clarity and battery backup.(The only option i could not find is DISABLE TOUCH.)It has the features of kindle voyage and oasis. That is FLUSH SCREEN, WATER PROOF and like Oasis we can invert the background (black background with white letters). We can connect bluetooth and hear the audios of our favourite books.Over all its a boon to avid readers..EDIT : Review of Kindle 10th gen after 2 months of usage : Everything is fine as i described before.DISABLE TOUCH option is enabled after further updation. Also battery percentage is displayed at the top of the kindle. I’m enjoying my fav books with my fav kindle..

I was skeptic about buying a kindle thinking how much I would miss the paperback thing. I tried reading ebooks on laptop and also on mobile even in the kindle app, nothing worked anywhere near the paperback experience.Allured by the pre-order offers, bought this one and I am loving it (it’s only the fourth day I am using it though, still I’m loving it). A great thing is that I can change the font and spacing, something that I couldn’t do in the paperback. This is my first kindle so can’t really compare with other versions. But if you are a paperback fan and thinking whether a kindle is worth it, I would say you must give this one a try and you will definitely love it.EDIT: It’s almost 1.5 months with the Kindle, I read almost everyday and I’m still loving it.The backlight thing has solved many problems that a paperback has: I can sit with my kindle by the dark riverside in the evening, I can switch off my room lights before going to bed and not get up later to switch them off after reading a little, I can read it under a blanket in winter and I can read it in train and flight regardless of whether the ambient lights are on or not.I just hope this device lasts long. If I face any problem with this device later or I stop loving it, I’ll update this review.

I have tried Kindle Paperwhite, the base model Kindle and now Oasis. First of all if you want the tldr as to should you spend this much money over a e-reader, here is my verdict: Yes, if you are going to read only in Kindle nothing else. This is epitome of design by Amazon. The ergonomics of this precious piece of gadgets are outmatched. I wish phones and tablets would think like this too. I am someone who puts industrial design over other aspects of a gadget so for me spending 21,000 Rs. is totally worth it.Oasis as a Kindle:Yes as a kindle product nothing gets better than Oasis. It just is something else. You can understand it when you hold it. The soft, cold metal and the gorgeous display, the tactile buttons and the almost perfect weight distribution sets this reader ahead, miles ahead of any competition. If you like to get away from physical books and you’re afraid it won’t feel the same anymore, trust me, Oasis will give you almost equal feel with your book as a whole.Oasis as an e-reader:As a legitimate e-reader, Oasis almost gets everything correct. But other cheaper versions get it correct too. There is almost no difference in Oasis and the recent Paperwhite. Waterproof, 300 ppi display, flat screen (Not recessed) and the same UI.What it gets little bit better in is, the page turn buttons. They are placed right where your thumbs rest, they are tactile enough, they can be assigned as per your choice, they adjust according to orientation, and in some parts of your device you can use it to navigate the UI. Nothing more is required. Maybe Amazon can find a way to make buttons work in times we needed to scroll. But that’s nitpicking.Oasis Display:I would compare Oasis and Paperwhite for their almost identical display. If you have the regular kindle, that is not in the competition at all. Except for the 12 LEDs in Oasis in place of 6 in Paperwhite, there is not much difference here. Contrast is almost the same and text is equally sharp. But guess what those double amount of LEDs light up the screen uniformly so you will notice much more comfort in brightness. The auto brightness is another feature which makes eye strain even more minimal. If you are a sucker for display or if you find yourself constantly changing the brightness in your current kindle or constantly trying to hold it in a particular place to set the angle correct, time to upgrade my friend.Battery Life:Keep the display brightness to auto, WiFi off and 30-50 mins a day, you’re good to go about 5-6 weeks. There is nothing much to talk about here. We charge almost every device daily today. And you will forget to charge your kindle because it lasts long enough. Charging is fast enough and there is a LED indicator. I mean this is perfect now.OS:You can invert colours, you can set custom fonts, you can bold till any level you want, you can change margins, you can change orientation, you can change the density of display. This is by far the main reason for me to read on an e-reader.The software is responsive, maybe slow to change but you are not using it to navigate. Once you’ve set it up, you’re gonna read. So it doesn’t matter.Purchasing books directly is a breeze. Downloading and whispersync is almost magical. You will never realise how many factors worked on background to make that perfect 30 min read. But it works so you don’t need to know.Verdict:For me yes it is worth every penny. I don’t care if the edges dig in my palm I will change hands, I don’t care if the metal is cold I like it, I love that it balances nicely in my hand, I love that the e-ink display is almost like a real book page, and I love that the brightness changes magically and sets your eye for a treat, I love I can turn pages with button which are right below where my thumb is naturally resting. All this is worth it for me as Kindle now can be an investment for long term. For you who likes to read sometimes, or already has many books, doesn’t care about how sharp or contrasty the display is, or maybe you have a tablet and you’re happy reading on it, go out and physically check out a kindle model. It will fancy you, and it will make you go wow. Get it then, If it still doesn’t I am jealous of you as you are satisfied with the world the way it is around you. Kudos Amazon.

The material gives Very good grip when held in hand. Though it feels is rubber, does not give any cheap impressions. The magnet is not so tight nor too free, just the right amount of pull. This is the only kindle cover I have used. So I cannot compare it with other covers. But this one didn’t disappoint me.

This is a one day review of refurbished kindle voyage wifi which I got for Rs 8.1k (10% cashback over 9k price)Packaging was pretty good, since product is ‘amazon renewed’ everything was good as new.I owned kindle basic 2014 before this (costing Rs 5k at discount) and this one has been quite an update. Text is quite sharp at 300 ppi, I wanted to to read manga on this and screen is good enough for it.Build is premium and page turn buttons work well. The only problem is uneven hue which is easily noticeable in low light setting. Upper half has yellowish hue whereas lower half is white in comparison. It’s not a major issue for me and okay compromise at this low price of 8.1k.If uneven hue could be an issue for you just go for current paperwhite available at 10.2k (or 9.2k) at discounted price.

In India Amazon will not repair their higher end e-readers like Voyage & oasis even if you are willing to pay for the repair. I have a voyage and have used it almost 2 years then its screen faded/freezes, hardly readable. I requested a repair but but amazon said no repair available here in India instead they offer a discount of Rs. 2000 to buy a new kindle (to try my luck again). I have spent some 20k on this device + books, thought it s good investment but they broke my trust on amazon’s quality and after sale service. Buy only when amazon offer full device support in India including Repair+extended warranty (not that Pathetic third party warranty).

It’s a kindle case. Expectations were pretty basic really. My last kindle case was worn out, and I needed a replacement. I searched a few options, and this one had the understated look that I wanted, without being a bland “black” look about it.That said, the look is a tad “shiny”. I don’t mind that. The texture is not fabric-like (like my last case) or like faux-leather. It’s immediately apparent it’s plastic. Now, I don’t mind that per se.What I was really bothered by was the amount of “plastic” smell that the case had. I never thought I would have to air out a kindle case, but I am going to try that for a few days. Or else return it if the smell persists (hopefully that will work) and get a case by some other company.Other things, in terms of fit with the paperwhite (mine is the original 1st gen paperwhite), magnetic lock, sleep/unlock, etc. are fine. Now that smell, though…

I bought this few weeks back and now i can find the price has increased. It looks fine as shown and works as expected.Fits the kindle perfectly and does the job fine. The texture is fine and i would not say this as excellent one. Magnetic lock is fine.It does the job for the price and did not find any major complaints.

The material gives Very good grip when held in hand. Though it feels is rubber, does not give any cheap impressions. The magnet is not so tight nor too free, just the right amount of pull. This is the only kindle cover I have used. So I cannot compare it with other covers. But this one didn’t disappoint me.

Just got the cover. This cover looks great and fits precise. The color is not as bright as shown in the product image, its more on the reddish brown shade. Finishing of the product is good. Auto Wake sleep works well. Happy with the purchase. Recommend to buy.

The texture is fine and i would not say this as excellent one. Magnetic lock is fine.It does the job for the price and did not find any major complaints.

The kindle product is great. But good luck if something goes wrong after warranty. I have had two kindles go bad..one after one year ( just after warranty ) and another after 3 years. In both cases it was not due to any misuse or physical damage. And there was nothing I could do. You are expected to just throw the kindle away. The least Amazon can do is to provide a means to fix kindles. These are not inexpensive devices by any means. Hope Amazon is paying attention to this.

  160. Be aware that amazon don’t give any repair service for kindle. If you are out of warranty and if you need some service, they will simply ask you to buy new device. After using device for 2 years, I have a defective switch for my kindle paper white and they simply reject to repair option. Instead they will ask you to buy a new one. I have fully functional device and only switch is defective. Still they didn’t honour the request to repair for a fee. So bad service

  161. I am using this device since 1 year (May 2015). There was no issue with the device till this month first week (July 2016). I found the device completely drained out and showing only ‘exclamatory sign’ over the power button in the screen . I charged it 5-6 hours continuously. Even then nothing had happened. When I contacted AMAZON KINDLE SERVICE they are saying that the product’s software is old version, I should upgrade the software version. But when I make them understand that the product is not in working mode then they clearly said as the product is out of warranty they can not replace or repair it ! I understand that replacement can not be taken place, but not even the repair??? AS A SELLER, AMAZON IS GLOBALLY SELLING SUCH A “ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHICH IS NOT EVENT REPAIRABLE !!!! BE VERY VERY VERY VERY CAUTIOUS BEFORE PURCHASE KINDLE.
