I’m writing this after using this kindle for six months.WHAT THIS KINDLE HAVE AND PAPERWHITE DOESN’T::: this kindle has a “Voiceview screen reader”, it means if you connect to a bluetooth speaker it will read the book aloud for you. this option is not there in paperwhite..battery::: at beginning when you charge once you can use it for a week, but no it drains in five to six days an it also depends on how much you read. also, if you switch on wifi then battery may drain in two days or even quicker. you should e on airplane mode to get good battery life. when you connect to your computer it takes one and half hour to two hours to charge full. when it got fully charged indicating light turn to green from orange.screen::: it have touch screen, which is so sensitive. when you are reading if a house fly sits on screen it activates the screen and it will show the meaning of the word where it sat(long touch to see a meaning of unknown word). you can slide even with a pen cap. screen is a bit inside to its border frame so dust formation at the corners and it is difficult to clean. you can change the font size to make the letters biggers or smaller. it also provide landscape view(change in settings). it shows battery and time on right top.flipcover::: flipcover is also important, because you need not to press the power but when you start or finish reading. when you close it automatically goes in power saving mode. when you open it, it shows what you are reading. if you press the power button and off the screen you get even good battery life.dictionary::: kindle has oxford dictionary pre installed and you can also download merriam-webster’s dictionary also. it has other language to english dictionaries ( like german, italian, french, japanese, chinese, gujarathi, malayalam..) but you need to download them. kindle also has word wise, when you switch it on kindle shows meaning for tough word just above the word(you need nor to again do anything). but some books doesnt have this option.reading experience::: at first it may be inconvenient, but on use it feels normal. there are lot of book on kindle store. but when you read pdf, it is very inconvenient, this is not for pdf files. also the processing speed not good, it feels very slow. it stores lots of books may be hundred. there will be no distractions, no ads or anything you can totally concentrate on what you read.glare::: if you go into intense sun it gives glare like shine. but in normal conditions it is good.browser::: it has experimental browser when you connects to wifi, it can connect to wikipedia and to google. but slowly.

  15. The power button on my Kindle device was not functioning. I informed Amazon customer care, they said that my product would be replaced. In replacement, I got a refurbished device! I cannot accept a refurbished device when I have paid the full price for it. Amazon did not even inform me that they would give me a refurbished device. This is plain cheating. If you have given me a faulty product to begin with, you cannot replace it with a refurbished one. What is the fault of the customer in all this? Why should they get refurbished devices when they have paid the full amount for a new one?

Guys..,🤓.If you are in the mindset of ” To Buy or Not to Buy “,🤨 you are in the same position of myself before ordering Kindle..So let me express my views after using Kindle for months.🤠.1, E-INK technology🧐.- unlike LCD display on mobile/ tablet, only the letters pop-up on a white background. ( new experience for me ).- not at all weary, even using for hours ( unless you’re bored with the content of the book )🤕.- low power consumption & we will be charging the device on monthly basis unlike mobile phones.😌.2, Library in your hand📚.- most cost effective way to read a book in this era💰.- 4GB internal memory can store thousands of books at once. ( well after that save it in your lap or del previous read books ).- always gets sync with Amazon cloud, so you never lost book neither worry about the purchased book..3, Not Good for PDF files 😔.- we can read in PDF format but it’s very raw..- best format for Kindle is .mobi & all Amazon books are in this format..- gets easily connected to PC & can edit the contents & transfer files.4, Reading experience.😇.- gets some time for adjusting to this reading.- zero distractions & no pop up ads.- contains Library, Kindle store, Vocabulary builder, Experimental browser & Goodreads..- can search for words & also have in built dictionary & Wiki results..- wifi connects fast & syncs with Amazon account..- also shared with my dad & now he uses it more than me.😶………TIPS…….😎..1, Google search Calibre software and install it in your PC.It saves all the books and also edits external format into Kindle mobi for reading in our device ..2, Many ” good ” 😉 e-book stores with free content available on internet..3, Subscribe to Kindle Unlimited ( first month free ) monthly plan and download 1000 books for free and save it for future reads.Kindle Unlimited is a whole lot of books for free reading & enjoy the package.😬.4, Buy a flip cover within 500 rupees🙃 and it helps in automatically shut down the screen when closed..5, Don’t go for Paperwhite which has in built lit display but everything else same & about 5k more 🤐…..VERDICT 🤔……..Kindle wins ….✌️✌️.Finally, do tick the “Helpful” option below thereby helping others for an easier decision..Thank you 🤗….

  22. I currently own 2 Kindles: 7th Gen Paperwhite and 2nd Gen Oasis (yes, I like to pamper myself while reading). Both fell short for various reasons. The 7th Gen Paperwhite’s screen is not flush and is prone to picking up dust or lint between the bezel and the screen. Its battery life is not as long-lasting as its predecessor (the 6th Gen PW probably has the most outstanding battery life of all Kindles), and I also made the mistake of using it in tandem with the luxurious Oasis. The 2nd Gen Oasis came with many wonderful technological breakthroughs – a gorgeous 7-inch display, the battery stacked to one side which made it easier to hold with one hand, waterproof capability, and the extra storage – but it disappointed me at one key aspect: the ability to hold it for a long period of time. You see, the 2nd Gen Oasis was the first model to sport a metallic finish on the back. The reasoning behind this might have been to lend it a premium finish, but it is also had the unintended consequence of being very slippery, especially if your palms tend to sweat a lot. Add to this the fact that the edges were sharp and liable to dig into your skin. I have been using the Oasis regularly since launch day and the device still doesn’t feel like ‘mine’. I keep adjusting my hold and grip while reading after every few minutes – this is not something you expect to do after nearly a year of heavy use.Hence, despite the fact that I already use 2 Kindles, the 10th Gen Paperwhite instantly caught my eye. Thankfully, purchasing it has turned out to be an addition of utility rather than overkill. With the new model, Amazon has realized the pinnacle of its vision for Kindle design and technology.– The flush screen, just like the one on Oasis 2, is aesthetically pleasing to read.– The new version is the lightest Paperwhite ever, which makes holding it for long periods even less of a chore. Gone are the days of switching hands or grips at regular intervals.– The rounded edges don’t dig into my hand and let me focus completely on my reading.– I am not one for using my Kindles near pools or while enjoying a bath, so waterproof capability comes in useful only if I ever happen to spill some sort of liquid on it.Overall, if you are looking to upgrade to the 10th Gen Paperwhite for the features, then it might not present a whole lot of exciting new boxes to consider. But, from a design standpoint, the latest version truly excels at stripping away the noise even further, and transporting you into your own private bookish world.Update (23/11/18): So I contacted Amazon Support regarding the update problem. The device was failing to update (via WiFi and USB) to the v5.10.1.2, which happens to be the latest version. The response from Amazon Support: “I’d like to inform you that this is a known issue and a master ticket has already has been raised and the issue has been escalated and we are waiting for the update.”They also assured that the problem was just a software problem, NOT a hardware problem. So I’m going to just sit tight and wait for the software patch to arrive. No big deal.Update (30/11/18): Update to v5.10.1.3 successful. No more pending issues with the device.

Mind blowing purchase. This is my second kindle. I already own basic kindle but thats difficult to read at night. But this kindle paperwhite 10th gen has inbuilt light which makes my night reading experience fantastic. I love the design and its sleek which is easy to hold for a long time.I like the resolution , clarity and battery backup.(The only option i could not find is DISABLE TOUCH.)It has the features of kindle voyage and oasis. That is FLUSH SCREEN, WATER PROOF and like Oasis we can invert the background (black background with white letters). We can connect bluetooth and hear the audios of our favourite books.Over all its a boon to avid readers..EDIT : Review of Kindle 10th gen after 2 months of usage : Everything is fine as i described before.DISABLE TOUCH option is enabled after further updation. Also battery percentage is displayed at the top of the kindle. I’m enjoying my fav books with my fav kindle..

I was skeptic about buying a kindle thinking how much I would miss the paperback thing. I tried reading ebooks on laptop and also on mobile even in the kindle app, nothing worked anywhere near the paperback experience.Allured by the pre-order offers, bought this one and I am loving it (it’s only the fourth day I am using it though, still I’m loving it). A great thing is that I can change the font and spacing, something that I couldn’t do in the paperback. This is my first kindle so can’t really compare with other versions. But if you are a paperback fan and thinking whether a kindle is worth it, I would say you must give this one a try and you will definitely love it.EDIT: It’s almost 1.5 months with the Kindle, I read almost everyday and I’m still loving it.The backlight thing has solved many problems that a paperback has: I can sit with my kindle by the dark riverside in the evening, I can switch off my room lights before going to bed and not get up later to switch them off after reading a little, I can read it under a blanket in winter and I can read it in train and flight regardless of whether the ambient lights are on or not.I just hope this device lasts long. If I face any problem with this device later or I stop loving it, I’ll update this review.

If you’re looking for an e-reader that also lets you read in dark, then the All-new Kindle 10th Gen is the reader for you. It has all the features of its previous versions and additional backlighting to enable reading in the dark. I pre-ordered this device and availed it’s offers. Got my first e-book for ₹200/- off. Here are some pros and cons I observed after using it for 3 days:Pros:1. Light weight, one-handed operation is easy.2. No glare, no strain on eyes.3. Let’s you download and read a variety of books across various genres.4. One full charge lasts for weeks.5. Let’s you read PDF e-books and you can also download them from your PC.6. Let’s you carry your entire library. Storage space claimed is 4GB.7. VoiceView screen reader works well with a Bluetooth speaker.8. Comes with a free extended warranty i.e, a 2 year device protection plan free of any charge. (For customers who pre- ordered it).9. Word Wise and Vocabulary Builder are very good features.10. Undisturbed reading, unlike tablets and smartphones.11. Cloud storage possible.Cons:1. Page turning or clicking may seem odd at first as the page refreshes everytime and the type of ink used.2. Isn’t waterproof or water resistant.3. Free storage space I got was only 2.37GB which is much less than the claimed 4GB.Overall, it’s a good buy for anyone who loves to read. Occasional readers may find it a waste of money.

Pros:- The screen is far better than the previous one that I owned(6th gen basic kindle).- The screen contrast is very good. Fonts are more legible compared to the previous generation basic kindle- The display is updated to E-Carta. This is good in terms of technology.- The backlight is definitely a USP of this product. The light spread out evenly across the display panel. Even keeping backlight to 1 point is enough for most people for comfortable reading.Cons:- Unlike in the US version, there is no Bluetooth support. Hence users may not be able to use audiobooks from audible. But this only a matter of software update that Amazon can enable the BT interface. Not sure when this might happen.- They gave Rs.200 give e-book voucher on pre-order. They could have given 3 months kindle unlimited like in the US.- I am skeptical about battery life. Need to use the device for a few more days to determine actual battery life.- The difference of color of charging indicator LED is hard to tell when the device is charging or completely charged.Price is fair in my opinion as kindle without special offers(with ads) is sold at $109 in the US which translates to INR7700/-. Expecting this for less price does not make any sense unless this is manufactured in India.

I have been using it for 2-3 days now.Pros-As always experience of reading on kindle is awesome-Screen is good though just 167 ppi, u can notice a little haziness-Light is very good , very even can read in dark comfortably-Touch is also working very well-Can read any time any where, you are never without a bookCons-Strangely in 2 days use it had abruptly restarted twice, not sure what is that. Will wait for few more days to test this issue- battery life is not that good, it could be due to light but its certainly not gonna last weeks-its 4GB but you only get around ~2.6 GB

I’m a beginner in reading novels, first i used to buy physical copies of each and every book, well they have their own significance you cannot compare both of them, but with them i used to struggle, i couldn’t finish them and sometimes it was very difficult to read with that small fonts and looking at some of the thickness of books i used to give up, just by finishing 1 chapter, BUT with kindle not only i was able to finish books it was very interesting how our mind reads a whole long book on a device rather than on the physical copies, this observation was made when i bought my kindle, i read my kindle when i get any possible free time, let it be airport, coffee shops etc. we can carry a bunch of books or let me say the whole library on the go. Kindle is harmless many think it may weaken our eyes, but trust me it doesn’t even cause a 0.1% strain on our eyes. The starter pack is definitely a very good combo for the everyone it gives accidental protection for 2 years, and 2000 Rs promotion from amazon from which we can buy 20-40 books at 100 Rs discount each and every time, and you get a cover which is good but not great, i would recommend buying the official case which you may get at some deal for 599/-.

  41. Reading has become so much easy and fun after getting a paperback kindle. First the ease of reading anywhere and anytime – especially during the nights, when lights are off – Second is the built-in dictionary and wordwise, it’s has enhanced my vocabulary. Third’s the content price, yes, almost all ebooks are discounted and especially with this starter pack I got Rs. 2000 discount through which I bought almost 5000 rupees books for 1600 bucks only! And above all it’s so handy that I don’t have to worry about stacking my books in shelves or to throw it at any corner of my house. I was a bookworm in my childhood but with age the habit almost died but thanks to this new age invention, I’m back to what I was – a child, never aging.

It’s a kindle case. Expectations were pretty basic really. My last kindle case was worn out, and I needed a replacement. I searched a few options, and this one had the understated look that I wanted, without being a bland “black” look about it.That said, the look is a tad “shiny”. I don’t mind that. The texture is not fabric-like (like my last case) or like faux-leather. It’s immediately apparent it’s plastic. Now, I don’t mind that per se.What I was really bothered by was the amount of “plastic” smell that the case had. I never thought I would have to air out a kindle case, but I am going to try that for a few days. Or else return it if the smell persists (hopefully that will work) and get a case by some other company.Other things, in terms of fit with the paperwhite (mine is the original 1st gen paperwhite), magnetic lock, sleep/unlock, etc. are fine. Now that smell, though…

The material gives Very good grip when held in hand. Though it feels is rubber, does not give any cheap impressions. The magnet is not so tight nor too free, just the right amount of pull. This is the only kindle cover I have used. So I cannot compare it with other covers. But this one didn’t disappoint me.

The product is ok. But their is a grey coloured line appears at the bottom side of the same.Requesting amazon to reply, if this is ok then share a valid reason, if not then I’m returning the same. Resolve this issue on priority.

At the bottom of the screen it was bumpy,so while reading you would get a greyish band of distorted skin tome regularity

It gets stuck on a loading page when i connected with goodreads. I could see a grey line at the bottom of the screen. Attached is the photo. I wont suggest this refurbised one.

Battery is draining drastically within 6 months. I need replacement for this product. I have spent 13 k to read books and its not worth at all. Please be careful before buying it.

It has been a month since the kindle stopped working.I have two of them and even after a formal complaint no one fixed it for us.the after sales service is very disappointing.
